.AR Top-level domain opening
Dear clients, colleagues and friends,

We are pleased to inform you that on September 10th the National Internet Domain Registration Office issued two new resolutions (No. 43 and 45/2019) about the rules, proceedings and schedules for the .AR top-level domain registration, as well as a new regulation for the administration of Internet domains in Argentina.

Resolution 45/2019

This new resolution establishes the opening procedure for requesting and registering .AR Internet Domains. The same will become effective in three stages: the first of them refers to “Preference Registration”, the second one to “Interest Registration” and the third one will be available for general public.

According to the resolution, the first stage –Preference Registration– is reserved only for those applicants that already own one or more domain names with extension zones .com.ar, net.ar, org.ar, int.ar and tur. ar, being possible to register the equivalent domains with extension .AR. The only requirements are that the domain must be active since December 15, 2015 and maintain its validity up to 15 days before the beginning of the Preference Registration Stage.

At the Interest Registration Stage, any human or legal entity that accomplish the general requirements for domains registration at NIC Argentina will be able to request the registration of those domain names that were available through a prior booking. In the event that more than one request for the same domain is made, the adjudication will be decided by lottery.

Once the first two stages of the opening procedure are finished, the general public will be able to register the remaining .AR domains that were available.

Please find the deadlines for every stages below:
